Efficacy’s Cognitive Behavioural therapists, based in centres across London & Sevenoaks, are experts and highly training in delivering CBT treatments to help you manage your pain.
Pain that is explained or unexplainable that has lasted beyond its expected healing time can be described as chronic pain. This kind of pain is persistent, and disrupts routine life. The main symptom of chronic pain is pain. The word “pain,” however, does not accurately describe the experience of people who live with it every day. Chronic pain is more than just a physical symptom: it may also cause depression, fatigue, and irritability. It can even interfere with work, relationships and activities of daily living.
Physiotherapy, medication, acupuncture, local electrical stimulation, and brain stimulation, as well as surgery, are some treatments for chronic pain. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), relaxation, biofeedback, and behaviour modification are also employed as the non-evasive treatments to treat chronic pain.
Cognitive behavioural therapy aims to improve the way that an individual manages and copes with their pain, rather than finding a biological solution. This approach is related to problem solving and returning control to the sufferer. Many individuals state that the pain rules their lives and cannot see how this can change without a medical cure. Cognitive behavioural therapy helps to identify negative thinking patterns and to develop effective challenges. With careful planning of tasks and daily activities, and the use of relaxation training, CBT enables them to take back control of their lives, to do more and feel better.
We are a pure CBT service based in three London locations and Sevenoaks with a team of BABCP accredited Cognitive behavioural therapists. All accredited cognitive behavioural therapists will be trained mental health professionals and competent in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain. So you can be assured that you health is in the hands of trusted health care professionals.
Chronic pain can be difficult to treat but a combination of psychological and physical therapies appears to provide significant benefits.
